I have some poor teeth due to some bad dental work when I was a child. The farthest back teeth on each side, top and bottom have some pretty deep cavities. I have had one fixed and it is extremely sensitive to sweets. I had the one on the bottom right fixed and it was very deep. It got very sore and they told me I would need a root canal. It is not near as sore as what it was, but it does feel funny. Also, my bite feels funny and when I bite, it feels like all those teeth are loose. I am constantly feeling them and biting to see if they are loose. He has been in my mouth about four times in the last two weeks and even looked at my gums and said nothing about gum disease. I am afraid I will loose my teeth. Am I biting too hard or just paying too much attention to them. I feel like I am constantly checking to see if they are loose. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
Loose Teeth???
Ummm...maybe you should see a different dentist. IF he has mentioned nothing about gum or periodontal disease then you should look elsewhere.
There%26#039;s no point in spedning $$$$ on teeth that only have a 1-2 year prognosis due to severe bone loss.
If your teeth are loose it%26#039;s because they have lost at least a moderate to severe amount of bone. Without that bone support your teeth will not be stable in the tooth socket.
Common signs of peridontal disease:
--Teeth feel funny in they way they fit together
--Teeth are moving or shifting
--Loose teeth
--Teeth appear longer (do to gum recession)
--Bleeding when brushing and/or flossing the teeth
--Bad breath
If you feel as though your dentist has not properly addressed your gum disease then go get a second opinion or be more direct with you dentist and ask him/her for a prognosis for each tooth. Point to the wiggly one and say, how long can I keep this tooth if I follow through with your recommended treatment? If it doesn%26#039;t seem reasonable to you to have work done, then ask which teeth can be saved and ask about partials or a bridge.
Hope this helps.
