I am getting worried, so please serious answers only.
My teeth are clean etc and I go to the dentist regularly every 6 months, but someone told me that teeth should not have any budge at all and be firmly fixed in the gums. However, my teeth - when wiggled with fingers at the back and front of the teeth - wiggle ever so slightly. When pushed purely from behind or in front, they don%26#039;t move at all and do not move when eating etc. Should I be worried about this at all? My teeth have always been like this and no dentist has ever said anything bad etc.
Really worried now - are my teeth falling out??????
P.S: I used to wear braces when I was a teen, but I am now 31 years old.
Thank you for your time.
Loose teeth?
Teeth are not firmly stuck into the bone. There is a little ligament which adheres to the root of the tooth and holds them in. Thus, there is always a very tiny amount of tooth movement.
In your case, since you had braces, there%26#039;s a possibility that some of your roots resorbed a little during the procedure and are shorter than normal. This will allow the tooth to move more than is normal......but his is nothing that can be rectified and is nothing to lose sleep over. Just ask your dentist next time.....he/she will be glad you%26#039;re interested and informed.
Reply:No, your teeth always shift slightly and it%26#039;s normal for you teeth to move a little bit. I wouldn%26#039;t worry about this because even if you went to the dentist, what are they gonna do? glue your teeth in? If you are really worried about this just ask the dentist what he/she thinks. Good Luck!
Reply:If you are seeing your dentist every 6 months, then don%26#039;t worry. Teeth are %26quot;firmly fixed in the gums%26quot; as you stated, but they have a slight mobility do to small fibers that are attached around the root.
Reply:Ask your dentist about this at your next appointment. He will probably say %26quot;He will keep an eye on this%26quot;. I have had certain teeth that have been loose for years. They have not fallen out yet. I guess we are OK as long as our dentists know about this.
