My 4 yr. old's capped teeth are already loose! Is this normal?

My daughter got her 4 front upper teeth capped when she was 2. They are the silver caps with white veneers (expensive!). She is only 4 and those teeth are already very loose. Is this normal? Will it cause future problems?

It depends on if the permanent teeth are ready to come in. The only way you will know for certain is to return to the dentist and have her x-rayed. If the permanent teeth are in place and coming it, they would naturally displace the baby teeth. It's a bit early for that, but not unheard of. And if that's not the cause, you will certainly need the dentist to advise you on what to do next.
Reply:Bring her to the dentist for x-rays because you have to make sure the teeth are going to grow in, (the adult teeth)

Other than that i got notihng for you.
Reply:You should ask a dentist to tighten
Reply:When caps are done on 2 year old, this is normally to repair baby bottle syndrome decay. Sometimes they have to do a nerve treatment called a pulpotomy along with the plastic cap. It really depends how extensive the decay was.

It is not uncommon for these teeth not to last until age 6 or 7 when they should fall out. The lower front teeth should be the first to loosen. As long as the teeth aren't hurting her and you don't notice any lesion (abscess) on the gum, just try not to have her use those teeth a lot. Try to keep them as long as they aren't troublesome.

It won't be as much of an issue to lose those teeth at 4 or 5 as it is to lose them at 2. Children who are early getting their teeth are starting to have that charming toothless look about now.

You just don't want to have any type of chronic infection in the tooth because that can damage the developing permanent tooth. An x-ray of the tooth would show if the tooth has an abscess or if the roots are just resorbing early.
