What to tell little sister about loose adult teeth?

I am 17 years old. I have a little sister who is 10. We are very close, and she tells me pretty much everything (her thoughts, fears, etc.). A few days ago, she told me that she had this one adult tooth that is pretty loose. She is scared about what will happen when she goes to the dentist in 2 months for her next appointment, and doesn't want to get a shot in her gums/have them pulled. And yes, SHE BRUSHES TWICE A DAY AND FLOSSES ALMOST DAILY. She has a good ped dentist, though sometimes he says things that makes her kinda nervous. I'm no DDS, so i dunt know what to tell her. I don't want to scare her, cause she's already worried enough and I don't want to make her ever more nervous and stuff. What will her dentist probably do? What should a tell her? And tell me what to tell her in a way that a 10 year old would feel comfortable with, so ya know, she doesn't get freaked out and all. Sometimes she is a bit sensitive with pain, but not like SUPER sensitive...so um please help!

What to tell little sister about loose adult teeth?
Offer to go with her and sit with her in the room while shes getting a check up. Take some orajel or anbesol with you so if the dentist does need to give her any shots, you can ask him if he can use the orajel to numb her gums a little bit so she doesnt feel the pinch of the shot. Tell her you'll be there for her and itll all be over before she knows it. The dentist just wants her to have the best, healthiest teeth so she can eat foods she likes.
Reply:tell her not to worry that the dentist will make her feel comfortable and that her will most likely put something on her gums so she won;t feel the pinch of the shot...tell her to close her eyes and think of someplace nice that she likes to be.... then if possible ask her what she thought of and take her there if she feels up to it, or take her the next day if you can ...Good luck sweetie she is lucky to have you as a big sister.....
Reply:Well... there may be a 2nd set of adult teeth underneath, in which case the tooth would probably have to be removed. Has it been impacted? Has she told your mum? She really does have to see the dentist, it may be a real problem. Tell her that things like this happen often and you just have to deal with it. Tell her that you will take her to the dentist, or you will go with her, so if she gets scared, you will be right there. Tell her that you will make an appointment to do a sort of check up, get what the dentist has to say, and then schedule another appointment, that you will go to with her. Also, while at the dentist with her, make sure that the dentist is aware of your/her concerns.

I hope this helps! :)
